On February 22nd, Mr. Yu Shi Ning, the director of International Liaison Department, paid a visit to H. E. Mr. Kristoffer Knudsen, the Resident Coordinator Ms. Zhang Yan, Project Manager of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in China. Both sides had a pleasant meeting.
Mr. Kristoffer Knudsen first welcomed our visit, and then briefed the mission, business scope and relevant industries. He pointed out they regard development as the aim, mainly focus on strengthening cooperation with China and the third party, and provide support for South-South cooperation and other affairs related to global development. Ms. Zhang Yan introduced some ongoing projects about African countries, including research on industrialization Road, economic transformation, African assistance and Chinese investors. They hope to get support from our foundation by making use of our advantages. They also provide the report of a research on sustainable development of Chinese multinational enterprises and books on cooperation and development between China and other countries, to provide reference for Chinese enterprises to go global.
Mr. Yu expressed his gratitude to the invitation. He spoke highly of the great contribution UNDP has made to China’s sustainable development. He briefly introduced the business scope, history and achievements of the foundation over the past years and mentioned that the foundation has strong and sound partnerships with African countries, and will keep up its efforts to further advance economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa. We will keep on pushing industrialization road in Africa and providing membership enterprises with overseas investment guidance to help them expand their overseas markets. He highlighted that there is a great potential for further cooperation, and we are willing to offer assistance to UNDP on African market studies as well. We also hoped that UNDP could provide theoretical support and professional advice to our membership enterprises, helping us to advance service to them by acquiring a profound knowledge of overseas markets, with the aim of enhancing practical cooperation between China and Africa and reaching win-win development.
Last but not least, both sides also discussed under the One Belt One Road Initiative. Both sides looked forward to even closer contacts and further cooperation to enhance sustainable development between China and other countries through joint efforts.
The meeting ended pleasantly, which helps strengthen the friendship with UNDP, and lay a solid foundation for future cooperation.
