On the morning of April 11th, at the invitation of the Embassy of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Mr. Zhang Zongwu, the General Secretary of our foundation, visited Mr. Bathiane Phouthabandid, the Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Laos in Beijing. They had a pleasant talk.
At first, Mr. Zhang Zongwu expressed our sincere gratitude for the invitation of Mr. Bathiane Phouthabandid, and for his attending the “One Belt and One Road” Economic and Trade Salon in Beijing hosted by our foundation in March. Mr. Zhang Zongwu briefly introduced the basic facts, resource advantages and achievements of our foundation. He emphasized that our foundation not only attached great importance to the trade and economic exchanges with African countries, but also took proactive steps to develop friendships with Belt and Road countries. Besides, our foundation is always committed to providing communication platform and creating cooperative opportunities for Belt and Road countries and Chinese enterprises. We are willing to deepen our cooperation with the Embassy of the Lao P.D.R, facilitate bilateral economic and trade exchanges, seek cooperation and create win-win results.
Mr. Phouthabandid extended warm welcome to our visit, and gave a brief introduction of several major railway and express way infrastructure projects in Laos. He pointed out that the completion of these projects would promote the domestic development and also boost the trade exchanges between Laos and China. He mentioned that China’s investment in Laos enjoyed a sound momentum, but still remained a huge space for future development. He held great hopes for the active roles our foundation was about to play in promoting bilateral trade. Mr. Zhang Zongwu responded that our foundation maintained good relations with many major infrastructure enterprises in China, and we were willing to help Laos enter into business connections with these Chinese enterprises.
Mr. Phouthabandid also briefed us on the development of Laos’ agriculture and emerging energy. He stressed that Laos’ neighboring countries had great demands for electricity. With the help of solar and wind energy, the generating capacity in Laos can not only meet the domestic demands, but also be exported to its neighboring countries. Therefore, he hoped to seek potential cooperative opportunities in China through the platform of our foundation. At last, both sides expressed their willingness to maintain close contact, and to create more cooperative opportunities for both Laos’ and Chinese enterprises.
The talk ended in a pleasant atmosphere. This meeting enhances the friendship between our foundation and the Embassy of the Lao P.D.R, which lays a solid foundation for future friendly cooperation in multiple areas.
