SecretaryGeneral Zhang Zongwu visited Ms. Ina Marciulionyte, Ambassador of the
Republics of Lithuania to China, at its embassy on 30 October. They exchanged
opinions regarding bilateral trade under the background of One Belt, One Road
initiative.
As a member country of One Belt, One Road, Lithuania has rich water resource
and has relatively mature industries in textile, food processing and chemical
engineering. Its bilateral trade cooperation with China has great potential.
Ambassador Marciulionyte introduced Lithuania’s current trade status with China.
He stated that Lithuanian cheese, yogurt, milk power and butter are well qualified
and competitive in markets. They even are designed with special flavors for
children, which are popular locally. She hoped that these products will also be
attractive to Chinese consumers. Meanwhile, Ambassador Marciulionyte also
introduced that information technology, laser manufacturing, water cleaning and
renewable energy are also competitive industries.
SecretaryGeneral Zhang took what Ambassador Marciulionyte seriously and
shared his opinions about opening Chinese markets with the Ambassador.
He stated that the institute is willing to work with Chinese enterprises and the
Lithuanian embassy in order to introduce the qualified and welltasted
Lithuanian diary products, as well as other products of Lithuania, to Chinese
markets. Also, because Lithuanian economy is relatively open and liberal,
Secretary-General Zhang hoped that the institute will introduce more Chinese
enterprises to go invest in Lithuania. Last, SecretaryGeneral Zhang invited
Ambassador Marciulionyte to visit our office in order to further discuss
future cooperation.
