SecretaryGeneral Zhang Zongwu of the institute visited Mr. Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador
of theRepublic of Turkey to China. They exchanged opinions regarding bilateral trade
under the background of the One Belt, One Road initiative.
As a country at the intersection of Europe, Africa and Asia, Turkey is an important
member country of One Belt, One Road. Ambassador Ersoy introduced the current status
of ChinaTurkey trade to SecretaryGeneral Zhang. He said that the bilateral trade has
been increasing and the current volume of it is 28 billion dollars. In addition, the
President of Turkey aims that the bilateral trade will reach 100 billion by 2020.
Ambassador Ersoy alsosaid that there is a great potential for bilateral cooperation in
the fields of agriculture, garment, textile, milk and milk products.
SecretaryGeneral Zhang agreed with Ambassador Ersoy’s point and introduced the
results of our institute’s work in promoting ChinaAfrica trade. Secretarygeneral Zhang
said that our institute has achieved great results in promoting ChinaAfrica trade and
the fields that
we have worked on include the fields mentioned by Ambassador Ersoy, such as textile,
garment and agriculture. SecretaryGeneral Zhang expressed that our institute will work
withthe embassy to introduce Chinese entrepreneurs to pay visits and invest in Turkey,
also tointroduce typical Turkish products to the Chinese consumers. Finally,
SecretaryGeneral Zhang invited Ambassador Ersoy to visit our office to further the
discussions of today.
