SecretaryGeneral Zhang visisted Mr. Gabor Szekely, Commercial Counsellor of Hungary to
China, at the Hungarian Embassy on November 6. They exchanged opinions regarding
bilateral trade under the background of One Belt, One Road initiative.
Hungary has a solid industrial foundation and has a developed high knowledgeattached
products industry, and has a strength in organic agriculture. It is a major member country
in One Belt, One Road initiative. Counsellor Szekely introduced that China and Hungary
share a long lasting friendship that can be dated back to 66 years ago. Hungary is the first
one that has signed the MOU with China’s One Belt, One Road initiative among all EU
countries. Also, Hungary is the first one to have implemented the policy of Opening to the
East as well as Opening to the West. Because our institute has been focusing on promoting
ChinaAfrica trade, there is much potential for cooperation between our institute and the
Hungarian Embassy.
SecretaryGeneral Zhang agreed with Counsellor Szekely’s points and introduced him about
our institute’s work in promoting ChinaAfrica trade. SecretaryGeneral Zhang said that
Hungary has been a popular destination for Chinese investors since 1990s. In recent years,
Hungarian economy has become more liberal, so Secretary-General Zhang believes that there
is much potential in the bilateral cooperation. SecretaryGeneral Zhang hopes that our institute
will work with the Hungarian Embassy and Chinese enterprises, hoping that there will be
multilateral cooperation under the One Belt, One Road, Opening to the East, Opening to the
South policies. Finally, Secretary-General Zhang invited Counsellor Szekely to visit our office to
further today’s discussions.
