President Zhang Yi of the institute visited Mr. Kabir Farahi, Ambassador of
Afghanistan to China at its embassy on November 13. They exchanged
opinions regarding bilateral trade under the background of One Belt, One
Road initiative.
President Zhang firstly thanked the embassy’s reception and introduced the
work of the institute in promoting China-Africa trade. He introduced that, our
institute has been working to promote ChinaAfrica trade. As One Belt, One
Road is developing well in China, the institute will work to support this grand
strategy of China through developing cooperation between China and
countries involved in One Belt, One Road.
Not only rich in oil and natural gas, Afghanistan is also rich in mineral
resources, including . It is an important country of the One Belt, One Road
initiative. Ambassador Farahi said that the friendship between China and
Afghanistan can be dated back to 2,000 years ago, even earlier than Ancient
Silk Road. In the ancient time, China reached Turkey, Middle East and Europe
for commerce through Afghanistan. Today, the geographical importance of
Afghanistan has only increased. Especially as the current Afghanistan president
strongly support One Belt, One Road initiative, Ambassador Farahi hopes to
continue Afghanistan’s contribution in China’s international trade.
President Zhang highly valued the cooperation suggested by Ambassador
Farahi. He said that the institute will work to introduce Chinese enterprises to
invest in Afghanistan and introduce typical Afghanistan products to the wide
Chinese customers. Finally, they has reached agreement for further
cooperation.
